Information for school staff

The Interagency Action Plan for Better Mental Health identifies as a priority increasing the knowledge of teaching staff about how to work with, support and respond to students with mental illness. In conjunction with the School-Link training, two evidence-based presentation packages - on "Adolescent Depression" and "Adolescent Self-harm" - have been produced to target teaching staff. These presentations are available to be delivered to secondary teachers by school counsellors after the counsellors have attended the relevant School-Link Training modules.

All school counsellors in NSW Department of Education and Training schools have access to these packages and they have also been made available and utilised by counsellors in other school systems in NSW. Initial evaluations suggest positive responses by the target groups.
