The Supporting Parents Training is a one day workshop for clinicians who work with parents of children under the age of 18, who have mental health and/or substance use problems. The workshop is designed for adult mental health and drug and alcohol workers; however places may be available to workers from other services, depending on demand. Workshops are available upon request at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore:
• The impact of mental health and/or substance use problems on parenting
• The engaging, assessing and goal-setting processes
• Parenting skills
• Resources and services
The workshops will provide an opportunity to meet other local service providers, and to consider how to work collaboratively in supporting vulnerable families.
