This unit provides students with a comprehensive framework for establishing and maintaining effective models of clinical supervision. It will cover professional and ethical issues in delivering clinical supervision and how to manage complex presentations. Topics include modalities and techniques of supervision, cultural awareness, providing feedback and evaluation, the therapeutic use of self in supervision, self-care, legal issues, ethics and moral reasoning. The unit is provided via distance education modality using clinical supervision vignettes and regular web forum discussion. Students completing this unit will develop competency and confidence in providing individual and group supervision using a reflective practice framework. Students undertaking this unit will need to be practicing as a clinical supervisor in a peer consultation or supervisory context.
